Reviews:

I’ll declare my hand from the start. I am an Australian born of Southern Italian parents. My own soirée to this part of the world over ten years ago now blew me away in terms of how beautiful, rustic and historically significant Southern Italy was.
I recall as Sally Hammond regales to us herself, the warnings from friends about how dangerous it was to be, how there wouldn’t be much to look at, how northern Italy was far better and how the people down south could be perceived as rude and arrogant. In reality this was all unfounded. Indeed the history, culture and beauty of Southern Italy is one of those hidden secrets that doesn’t get trumpeted enough until someone goes there and comes back heralding to all and sundry. Sally and Gordon Hammond have done just this and have come back to tell us all about it in their new book.
The book is a fascinating blend of personal stories, travel adventures, rich historical detail, tales of interesting people as well as beautiful local recipes and long luxuriant meals discerned from Sally Hammond ’s travels south of Rome and down through Sicily. The book is a travelogue journal of the Hammonds travels throughout the region and one becomes easily entranced into the world of their lives as they experience the joys of traveling throughout this region. An enjoyable and easy read that will have you putting this destination on your European map tour next time you travel.

"Undeterred by warnings that the South of Italy was dangerous and - even worse(!) - boring, chef and author Sally Hammond and her husband travelled to the region to discover food, recipes and experience the culture of the region.
Far from the opinions of their friends, Sally and her husband Gordon were amazed by the amount of great food, tourist spots and people they saw in Italy, and have expertly transferred it all into their new cookbook come tourist guide 'Just A Little Italian'.
