A DIVE THROUGH POST OFFICE

There's never a post box when you need one, is there? Vanuatu has noticed that problem and they're onto it, claiming to have set up the world's first Underwater Post Office.

To find it you need to dive off Hideaway Island on the outskirts of Vanuatu's capital Port Vila. Located in three metres of water in a marine sanctuary surrounded by beds of coral and shoals of multi-coloured fish and other marine life, this would have to be one of the world's most unusual – and possibly most beautiful POs.

We know what you're thinking – and yes, the smart Vanuatans have come up with a special waterproof postcard that you can take on your swim to the letterbox. The egg-shaped fibreglass Post Office is staffed and your postcard is stamped by a postal worker, a certified diver, one of four who take shifts working underwater, and using a waterproof device. Can't dive? A staff member will zip down with it for you.

So how do you know when it's open for business? When the floating flag is up, of course.
