BRIEF COMPANY HISTORY

Asiana Airlines was founded in February 1988.

Inauguration flights launched on 23rd December 1988 between Seoul - Pusan and between Seoul - Kwangju.

Inauguration flight launched on 5th December 1995 between Seoul – Sydney and now has daily flights departing SYD each morning.

Asiana Airlines joined the Star Alliance network, 1st March 2003.

Asiana Airlines is owned by the Kumho Group, ninth largest company in Korea.

Asiana’s head office and major hub city is Seoul, Korea.

IN FLIGHT FACILITIES AND FLEET INFORMATION

Asiana Airlines operates daily direct flights between Sydney and Seoul on our  Boeing 777-200ER aircraft.  This aircraft operates a two-class service, Business and Economy Class.

Between Sydney and Seoul we have a personal in-flight entertainment system in every seat which includes nine movie channels, a news channel, sports channel, four special feature channels, ten game programs and airshow.

Asiana’s passenger aircraft fleet includes Boeing 747, 767, 777 & 737 and Airbus A330, A320 & A321.

Asiana has a fleet of 60 aircraft with an average age of 5 years.

B747-400 aircraft operate First, Business and Economy Class services.

Asiana offers a choice of Western and Korean meals on flights.

Seat allocation may be made on all Asiana operated international flights in all classes.  Simply call Asiana Reservations on 1300 767 234.

Special meals (for dietary, religious or health reasons) may be requested through our reservations department, and must be booked at least 24 hours prior to the flight departure time.

STPC is provided in Seoul when using next day services to selected destinations beyond Seoul. Refer Asiana fare sheets for applicable cities where STPC applies.

Sleeper Beds (180 degree reclining seats).

Personal Video system.

Flexible meal times.  Simply advise the cabin crew when you would like your meal served.

83 inches of legroom between seats.

Partitions offering privacy between seats (when in the sleeper bed position).

Power-lumbar adjustment supports.

Airport Lounge Invitation.

Cabin Crew has a minimum two years experience before serving in First Class.

BUSINESS CLASS FEATURES (A330)

58 inches of legroom between seats.

Bed - Seats reclining a full 167 degrees.

Personal AVOD (Audio Video On-Demand) System featuring Movies, Music and Games on a 15 inch screen.

Individual power outlets in each seat.

Airport Lounge Invitation.

Cabin Crew has a minimum two years experience before serving in Business Class.

 BUSINESS CLASS FEATURES (B777-200ER)    

51 - 53 inches of legroom between seats in a 2,3,2 configuration.

Seats reclining a full 135 degrees.

Footrest and leg support that allows you to stretch out and relax.

Personal Video System (including Airshow, Movies, News, Features and  Video Games).

In-seat telephone.

Lumbar Support.

In-seat PC data port.

Airport Lounge Invitation.

Cabin Crew have a minimum 2 years experience before serving in Business Class.

ECONOMY CLASS FEATURES (B777-200ER)

33 - 34 inches of legroom between seats in a 3,3,3 configuration.

Seats reclining 108.5 degrees.

Personal Video System (incl. Airshow, Movies, News, Features and Video Games)

In-seat telephone.

     FREQUENT FLYER PROGRAMS -     

Asiana Airlines has two frequent flyer programs. 

ASIANA CLUB for passengers 12yrs and older.

ASIANA MAGIC MILES for young passengers aged between 03-11yrs.

Both programs are free to join and clients may enroll on our website or by enrolment form.

First Class accrue an additional 50% of mileage flown.

Business Class accrue an additional 25% of mileage flown.

Economy Class accrue 1 mileage point per mile flown.

Frequent Flyer Points may be exchanged within the same family member group towards redemption tickets at the time of ticket issuance (proof of family membership is required).

Asiana is a “Star Alliance” member, which includes Frequent Flier Programs, reciprocal Airport lounge services & through check-in service, upgrade awards are available enabling passengers to redeem points to upgrade class of travel.
