A SINGAPORE SWING

Just a few weeks ago I had the ride of my life. And no, it wasn’t hair-raising. It didn’t spin sickeningly. It wasn’t even fast. But it was fantastic!

Today I heard how it could be even better. The ride, of course, was on the brand-new 165-metre high Singapore Flyer, the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel, opened on March 1st, 2008. From the top, on a clear day, you can see all over the island-country of Singapore and right into neighbouring Malaysia.

It’s a classy ride in enclosed capsules at any time, but it is about to get a whole lot classier. During the first Formula OneTM Grand Prix night race this September some lucky punters will have an unprecedented ground-to-air vantage point from which to watch the race. There are 600 exclusive Singapore Flyer Premium Suite passes available – priced at S$5,500 per person (excluding 7 percent GST) which includes a three-day trackside pass.

During the three days of circuit action, Singapore Flyer Premium Suite pass-holders will enjoy complimentary 30-minute champagne flights atop the Flyer as they admire a panoramic bird’s eye view of the race – as well as the dynamic Singapore cityscape and neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia – from the comfort of 28 climate-control glass-panelled observation capsules, each able to accommodate 26 guests.

It doesn’t stop there. Overlooking the grandstand, five-star Singapore Flyer Premium Suites, each accommodating 20 guests, have been custom-built along the level 2 and 3 balconies of the Flyer’s Retail Terminal building, located next to the racing action. Here guests can enjoy an open bar, free flow of premium champagne, the Singapore Flyer Signature Cocktail, a five-star culinary menu and wine selection, as well as access to outdoor prime views by the trackside, among other privileges.

Also available for reservation are the Singapore Flyer Private Capsule Champagne flights. From the privacy of their very own capsule, guests can admire the revolving panorama and immerse in the city race adrenaline as they enjoy premium champagne and a platter of strawberries and chocolate during the 30-minute flight. Priced from S$3,500 to S$10,000 per private capsule (excluding 7 percent GST), Singapore Flyer Private Capsule Champagne Flight packages are available on 26, 27 and 28 Sept, from 8.30am to 11pm. They do not include trackside passes, which are necessary to access the circuit park. Singapore Flyer is located within this circuit park.
