Don Alfonso

There has been a family-run hotel in these premises on the Sorrentine Peninsula since 1890, and the much-acclaimed Michelin-starred restaurant is one of Italy’s finest. Worth a detour for anyone visiting Naples.

Here you can also find one of the world’s most unique and extensive wine cellars, dug vertically through 19th-century vaults, past cellars from the seventeenth and sixteenth centuries, to a Roman-era tunnel cut through the tufa.

Descendents of the first Alfonso care so passionately about their cuisine that they have established a farm perched on a cliff facing Capri especially to produce organic vegetables and herbs, eggs, meat, olive oil and fruit for the table.
